A now rich woman returns to the village that shunned her years before and she's back to get her revenge, in iconoclastic Senegalese filmmaker Djibril Diop Mambety's provocative classic film, Hyenas. He adapts a timeless parable of human greed into a biting satire of today's Africa - betraying the hopes of independence for the false promises of Western materialism, dictated by Western institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
