African American Women In Film 11th Annual Int'l Film Festival November 12, 2008

African American Women In Cinema is very pleased to announce a special anniversary edition of the 11th Annual International Film Festival. The Festival will feature works of emerging and established women filmmakers who are of the African, Latina and Asian Diaspora, curated by, Third World Newsreel Organization. This unique edition will include specialized panels with prominent industry professionals as well as Premiere screenings and the AAWIC Film Festival Closing Award Ceremony. It is the aspiration of African American Women In Cinema to give talented women a path to fulfilling their dreams through exposure of their talents and through peer interaction between established professionals in the media and entertainment field.

The festivities kick off on November 12th with a reception sponsored by Banco Popular, New York Women in Film & Television and Greater New York Chamber of Commerce at the Banco Popular located at 231 W. 125th St. New York City. Events continue on November 13th with a special Red Carpet Screening, November 14th, International Day at the United Nations, & November 15th film screenings continue at the Faison Theater. The Festival concludes with a VIP reception and Closing Award Ceremony along with the World Premiere of the African Film "Deeper then Sex" a movie that deals with one of the health related issue that plagues Africa today at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York City.
