Dance! Drum! Sing! Rejoice! In recognition of African American Heritage Month, the STAR ECO Station presents its seventh-annual African American Art Festival on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This compelling, culturally-rich family celebration features everything from traditional African dance and music to contemporary creative works by established and emerging visual artists and performers. The festival pays homage to inspirational, creative leaders in our community and spotlights new and rising young talent!
We have also set a goal of establishing a new Guinness World Record for “Largest Children’s Drum Circle” during the African American Art Festival. Bring a drum and help us make history!
This FREE outdoor event includes: Live Music • Dance Performances • Paintings • Sculpture • Ceramics • Jewelry • World-Class Capoeira • Food • Vendors • Crafts • Games and so much more!
Also available are naturalist-guided tours of the STAR ECO Station – an Environmental Science Museum and Exotic Wildlife Rescue Facility – which houses over 100 species of confiscated and abandoned animals from around the world. Tours are $6 for children (16 and under), $7 for seniors (65 and over) and $8 for adults. The last tour leaves at 3:00 p.m.!
Visual works from the African American Art Festival will be exhibited every weekend from Feb. 3-25 at the STAR ECO Station’s Galleria del Mundo. Weekend viewing hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; weekday viewing by appointment only.
