Woodbury University is proud to announce the second-annual Advancing Sustainability Symposium to be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 on the Burbank campus. The 2012 Advancing Sustainability Business + Design Symposium is entitled The Ailing Heart of the Urbanscape: Its Causes and Cures and with a cross-disciplinary lens, it tackles issues of design, culture, and economics in response to geography, technology, resources, and politics. Organized by students enrolled in Woodbury’s widely recognized School of Architecture, School of Business, School of Transdisciplinary studies, and School of Media, Culture, and Design, the event brings together students, professionals, and the general public in conversation about the future of the built environment.
An all-day event, The Ailing Heart of the Urbanscape: Its Causes and Cures, consists of lectures by internationally acclaimed speakers with expertise in various topics of architecture, business, and sustainability. Speakers include: Charles Renfro and many others. The 2012 Advancing Sustainability symposium will focus on the “cardiovascular system” of a city—its infrastructure. The symposium will investigate how various infrastructures—transportation, energy and water supply, and communications—perform, exchange, and are incorporated into the natural environment. The discussion will address the extent of their influence on lifestyle and the overall dynamics of the city, as well as their management and opportunities for advancement.
