Advance Guatemala, a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide aid to poverty-stricken Guatemalans, is launching with a free fundraising event from 1 to 5 p.m. March 3 at the Montelucia Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Advance Guatemala, founded and led by Vantage Self-Directed Retirement
Plans CEO JP Dahdah, will be raising funds to support education, housing, entrepreneurship/economic development and health care projects in Guatemala. The foundation’s goal is to establish lasting relationships with collaborative organizations who have shared values and a desire to create sustainable programs to give Guatemalans a hand up, not a hand out.
Former First Lady of Guatemala, Wendy de Berger, will be the Guest of Honor and provide a presentation on the needs of the Guatemalan community.
The event will have a “Guatemalan Experience” theme to make it feel as if you’ve traveled to Central America and immersed yourself in the culture. Advance Guatemala’s collaborative partners, Project C.U.R.E., Namaste Direct, and Hug It Forward, will be showcasing their Guatemala-focused projects and providing information on how attendees can get involved.
The charity event will also feature a silent auction with items including resort getaways, sports and movie memorabilia, and much more. Latin American food and drinks will be provided.
Dahdah, who currently serves as Executive Director for Advance Guatemala, was born in Guatemala and lived in the country during his childhood before moving to the United States, with the majority of his family choosing to stay. Years later, after frequent visits back to the country, he realized his role to serve as a leader and contributor to help improve his homeland.
Vantage Self-Directed Retirement Plans regularly participates in community outreach activities nationally and internationally under its “Profits to Philanthropy” corporate responsibility program. Advance Guatemala is one of the initiatives that serve Guatemalans throughout Arizona, including the local Guatemalan consulate, and officials in Guatemala.
