Adult Perspectives - The Fundamentalist Assault on Public Education April 7, 2013

Were you aware that the far right has launched a wide a range of initiatives to inject conservative forms of evangelical Christianity into public schools — and into society at large? With the blessing of the Supreme Court, thousands of clubs that meet in public school classrooms are converting children as young as five to religious fundamentalism.

Our guest speaker, Katherine Stewart, is an investigative journalist who writes about these matters and more in her book The Good News Club: The Christian Right’s Stealth Assault on America’s Children (PublicAffairs, 2012). Ms. Stewart has written for the New York Times, Reuters, Bloomberg View, The Guardian, and many other publications. She has published two novels and co-wrote the book about the musical Rent.
