"Giant Robot San Francisco welcomes Adrian Tomine, who will sign copies of his eagerly anticipated tenth issue of Optic Nerve. Some describe his melancholy indie comics as "bummers", but those are the same people who buy each issue as soon as it is released. Since the publication made the transition from self-published mini-comics to a pop-culture standard in 1994, new readers have been hooked by Tomine's clean style and honest, introspective stories every year.
Adrian Tomine graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in English Literature. In addition to writing and illustrating Optic Nerve, he has contributed illustrations to magazines including The New Yorker, Esquire, Rolling Stone, Time, and Giant Robot, and collaborated with bands such as Weezer. Earlier this year, Tomine had a solo art exhibit at GR2 in Los Angeles."
