Austin singer/songwriter and accomplished guitar player Adam Ahrens is excited to announce the release party for his new album, Prize Fight, on Saturday, November 20th at Lambert's Downtown Barbecue. Prize Fight is the follow up to Fond du Lac, an album which highlighted Ahrens’ deep and rich vocals somewhere in the neighborhood of Bill Callahan as well as his nimble finger-picked guitar style. The new record is a collection of nine tracks produced by local Austin musician and producer Michael Ramos, featuring original songs with the exception of a few amazing covers of tracks like “Little Green Apples” and Ennio Morricone’s “Farewell to Cheyenne,” the haunting signature tune from “Once Upon A Time In The West.” Ahrens is a master of thick folk, blues and acoustic textures, with his deep and soothing vocals giving off a Leonard Cohen-esque vibe.
The release show is free, and Ahrens will be signing copies of his new record, which will be available for sale at the event.
