ACToberFest Returns! October 16, 2008

North Hollywood/Santa Monica, CA – Fire Rose Productions will once again present “ACToberFest” in October 2008. This festival includes a “Ten-Minute Play Competition”, “Solo Factor,” and “Melt in Your Mouth” – Fire Rose’s much touted spoken word series.

This is the sixth time this 10-Minute Play Festival will be held. The festival has become so popular that it outgrew the Secret Rose Theatre in North Hollywood, so this year, the Ten Minute Plays will be shown at the 110 seat Miles Memorial Playhouse in Santa Monica. Sixteen plays will be presented over a two-week period and one play will be presented the “Merce Award” for outstanding excellence in playwriting.

The 10-Minute Play Festival is part of Fire Rose Productions “New Works” program. The goal of the New Works program is to seek original and innovative work by writers committed to furthering their craft in a supportive and creative environment. “The festival is an opportunity for playwrights to have their works mounted in a professional setting using professional actors and directors,” said Kaz Matamura, Artistic Director for Fire Rose Productions, “The New Works program assists in expanding, enriching and stimulating the playwright’s growth and potential.”
