The Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Seattle chapter welcomes leaders from public and private corporations, private equity firms, financial institutions, and professional service firms to join our monthly presentations. ACG Seattle provides members and guests with the finest quality educational and technical programs. The diverse programming provides access to a myriad of ideas to successfully and consistently achieve sound corporate growth, whether through internal or external means.
This month's program is "Think Big, Start Small, Scale Fast: The Coinstar Story" presented by Coinstar, Inc. Corporate Vice President, New Ventures, Peter Rowan.
Coinstar embarked in 2001 on an aggressive growth and diversification strategy. In the eight years since it has launched many new businesses, acquired 18 companies and rapidly grown both its top and bottom line. Through these efforts the company' has grown from $150 million to $1.3 billion in revenue and introduced innovative growth initiatives like its DVD kiosks (Redbox), e-payment, and coin-to-card programs. Come hear Peter Rowan, Coinstar's Corporate Vice President, New Ventures, lift the covers a bit off its recent history, its disciplined new venture methodology, and its view of the future.
Looking ahead at the next wave of growth (beyond $1 billion), Coinstar faces numerous challenges. Will its innovation program deliver the "next big thing?" Will the new ventures deliver profitable growth to offset potential downward pressure on its core movie rental business in the future as new delivery channels gain widespread adoption? What are the new risks and opportunities facing the company? Peter's presentation will provide insight on Coinstar's corporate growth strategy and provide insights into how to create a rigorous filtering process for pressure testing opportunities that show promise.
$25 for ACG members; $50 for non-members; +$10 for walk-ins. Registration closes the Monday before the event.
