Background:
In the much talked about movie directed by Otto Preminger, Frank Sinatra plays a poker dealer and recovering heroin addict struggling to stay clean in the big city. The film also stars Kim Novak, Eleanor Parker, and Darren McGavin. Sinatra received an Academy Award® nomination for lead actor, as did Elmer Bernstein for score and Joseph C. Wright and Darrell Silvera for art direction.
The film features a newly restored print from the Academy Film Archive as part of the Academy’s Centennial Tribute to Otto Preminger.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with HOPE PREMINGER, wife of the late director.
