Riverside Theatres proudly presents the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s emerging artists ensemble, ACO2, at Riverside Theatres on Friday 16 May at 7:30pm for one performance only. ACO2, led by Principal 2nd Violinist Helena Rathbone, features the cream of young Australian musicians selected to work with mentors from the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
The program will include Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No.10, Mozart’s Violin Concerto No.2 in D major K211 performed by Helena Rathbone, Carl Vine’s Smith’s Alchemy and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings.
As a small, permanent ensemble, the ACO is in the unique position to be able to offer young artists the opportunity to rehearse and perform with its renowned players in an ongoing mentoring situation. The program is individually tailored to suit the particular strengths and needs of individual ACO Emerging Artists.
ACO2 embarked on its inaugural regional tour of coastal New South Wales and Queensland in October 2007, and will this year travel to regional Northern New South Wales and Queensland in May.
“ACO2 shines because each individual has the artistry and technique to play music the way they want to hear it.”- Herald Sun
