Celebrating the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln’s birth, the La
Quinta Museum’s Lincoln exhibit will open July 24 with an evening
reception at the museum from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Lincoln
impersonator and actor William Peck will bring Abraham Lincoln to
life through stories and historical anecdotes during the reception.
Guests will also have the opportunity to sample hardtack, a staple in
the diet of the Civil War soldier. The hardtack is provided by Bent’s
Cookie Factory in Massachusetts, who supplied the Union troops
with hardtack during the Civil War. They continue to manufacture
hardtack on the same machines used in the 1860’s.
