About Face and Guests Bass Culture - Funk, Reggae and Acid Jazz at George's Nightclub February 11, 2012

With their irresistible mix of funk, reggae, acid jazz, hip-hop and '70s soul, About Face is one of the Bay Area's hottest bands. The eight-piece combo has toured America and Europe, and opened for such acts as Bonnie Raitt, Tower of Power, George Benson and Natalie Cole. Hear their unique brand of dance music at George's Nightclub in San Rafael.

About Face is the award winning eight piece group that has been entertaining Bay Area audiences for years with their unique mix of funk, reggae, acid-jazz, hip-hop and 70’s soul.

Their debut C.D. “About Time” is currently being distributed on Forward Records in Europe and Reitzel Records in the United States.

Opening the show will be superb set by BASS CULTURE REVUE! This band is an original Alternative Neo-Soul band influenced by R & B, reggae, jazz, rock, Latin, West African, and ska. Besides picking from their catalog of 170 or so original songs, Bass Culture Revue also performs a few fine covers by the likes of Joss Stone and Corinne Bailey Rae.

A BASS CULTURE REVUE show opens with a short set by ABU & GARY on acoustic guitars and vocal, accompanied by Malian kamelngoni, calabasse or djembe, and Yoruba singer Kola Adesokan. This beautiful music establishes the roots of where the music of Bass Culture comes from. Next up icomes seasoned Trinidadian lead singer NEZ B (Ernesto Browne), followed by emerging phenomenon MORAIMA on lead vocals.
