Acoustic rocker, Christopher Payne-Taylor, makes his final appearance at the Abbey Lounge, 7:00PM, Saturday, November 22, the venerable rock dive's last weekend (due to hard realities and uncertain times). For Payne-Taylor, the Abbey has always felt like an extension of NYC back in the day of CBGB's/Max's Kansas City where he played as co-founder of New York punk band, Karyn Satin & the Bedsheets, in the iconic CBGB's era.
Says Payne-Taylor, "one of the hardest things in the world is to actually define what makes great rock, let alone a great rock dive. With Abbey Lounge, it's not an issue; the place itself is that definition." But the weekend grittiness, graffiti, and great, loud, unpredictable music all come to an end as Payne-Taylor takes the stage Saturday night, the 22nd, to say his own personal goodbye.
