Henry N. Pollack, Ph.D, has been was a Professor of Geophysics at the University of Michigan for more than 40 years. In the scientific community, he has earned a reputation as one of the world's leading experts on the temperature of the Earth, both today and in the geological past. An award-winning teacher with a gift for explaining science to non-scientists, Professor Pollack has taken a special interest in helping leaders in government, business, and the general public understand the scientific developments associated with global climate change.
It has taken just three centuries for human growth and rising industrial economies to bring the delicate relationship between ice and humans to a dangerous precipice. Ice carved Earth's landscape to its present state - the sharp Alpine peaks of Europe, the vast Great Lakes of North America, the majestic valleys of Yosemite National Park and the deeply incised fjords of Norway. But as the climate-change debate becomes more heated, are we at risk of losing these precious formations?
Come hear Professor Pollack present and interpret the data showing man's impact on climate change.
