A Traveler's Guide through Art:
Madrid and Toledo
Jerrilynn D. Dodds, Distinguished Professor of History and Theory in the School of Architecture, City College of CUNY
This series explores the two great cities of New Castile. Madrid, the glorious historical capital, is the site of the unique Plaza Mayor, splendid palaces, grand avenues, and the so-called Golden Triangle of Art: the Thyssen-Bornemisza, the Reina Sofía, and the Prado, one of the world's transcendent museums. Toledo, 70 kilometers south of Madrid in the heart of Castile, has been a center of culture and learning under both Islamic and Christian rule.
