A Taste of Autumn October 20, 2012

Autumn is the time for harvest. Take part in the experience as you pick grapes in the vineyard and help with the crush process. The winemaker will also discuss the importance of the use of barrels in winemaking with a focus on topics such as how barrels are made, toasted and used to impart wonderful flavors and aromas to both red and white wines, the various parts of a barrel, sizes and names of the barrels and the differences between French and American oak. You will taste wine from the barrel, followed by a tasting of several Callaway red wines. This tasting will be accompanied by an assortment of wonderful artisan cheeses and seasonal fruit. You will be sent you home with a wine bottle cheese board and knife set, a Callaway Wine and Cheese Pairing chart with serving suggestions and a certificate of completion.
