El Paso Community College is celebrating its new Culinary Arts facility with a night of fine food and art. “A Taste of Art: An Evening of Pleasing Palettes and Palate Pleasers” takes place Wednesday, October 21 at 5:30pm in the foyer of the Administrative Services Center, Building B, 9050 Viscount Boulevard. Along with hors d’oeuvres made by Culinary Art students and tours of this state-of-the-art facility, a scholarship art auction and art exhibit will round out a wonderful evening.
Included in the night’s activities are two art events. “Painted Palettes” raises funds for student art scholarships. “Painted Palettes” and the scholarships are the brainchild of famed artist and EPCC benefactor Amado Peña, Jr. Mr. Peña and other famed Southwestern artists paint original works of art on artist palettes, which are then auctioned off. During the event, EPCC will be premiering an exhibit by artist and El Paso favorite son, Bill Rakocy. Mr. Rakocy has generously donated works of art to EPCC and they will be on permanent display in the B Building of the Administrative Services Center.
