A Portrait of the Artist: Mark Rothko's Late Work April 22, 2009

Matthew Palczynski, Staff Lecturer for Western Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, explores the second half of Mark Rothko's career. Paying particular emphasis to the four key phases of his work after 1940, Palczynski decodes how the artist's Surrealist, signature, mural, and late paintings function in a broader context of his oeuvre.
