Written in 1998, 'A New Brain' is William Finn's semi-autobiographical account of his own battle for life when confronted with a seemingly terminal illness. As the central character, Gordon Michael Schwinn (a name-rhyming and career-paralleling alter ego for Finn) struggles to survive, he finds salvation in the healing power of art. Filled with cunning lyrics and moving score, 'A New Brain' brings out the humor and joy that co-exist with even the darkest moments of our lives.
