One of Stephen Sondheim's most beloved masterpieces, the romantic and achingly beautiful "A Little Night Music" deals with the universal subject of love, in all its wondrous, humorous and ironic permutations.
The score is composed entirely in 3/4 time, or in variations thereof. The song "Send in the Clowns" has become a popular music standard and has been recorded by dozens of superstars, including Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand and Judy Collins, whose recording garnered Sondheim the 1975 Grammy for Song of the Year.
"Heady, civilized, sophisticated, and enchanting." - The New York Times
"Possesses not only style and imagination and an attractive score, but also a somewhat unusual quality that combines humor with a touch of sadness." - New York Post
"A jeweled music box of a show; lovely to look at, delightful to listen to." - Time Magazine"
