A Hawaiian Hula Holiday November 27, 2010

Start the Holiday season off island style with a Hawaiian Holiday Hula Show featuring Hula Halau Na Wai Ola and the dynamic `ukulele players of `Ukulele Jams with special guest, Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Guru, Patrick Landeza.

Halau Na Wai Ola is based in San Jose, Ca and participates in several competitions, festivals and community events throughout the year. This year’s show is a “hula play” that intertwines hula and music. Under the creative direction of Kau`i Isa-Kahaku, this year’s performance should be a memorable one! “I wanted to do something different this holiday season, incorporating a ongoing theme and fitting Hawaiian holiday music just made sense to me,” Kaui says. This is a perfect after thanksgiving family event for all!

`Ukulele Jams has been around since 2005 under the direction of Hawai`i born `ukulele player Rodney Takahashi. “I always dreamed of opening a studio like my teacher Roy Sakuma” Takahashi says. That dream came true and `Ukulele Jams has over 150 students ranging from ages 3 to 80 years old. This evening he will feature the school as they perform as apart of the event.

The show’s special guest is Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar guru Patrick Landeza. Landeza is no stranger to the Bay Area, born and raised on the island of Berkeley, California, Patrick tours the country and produces not just slack key but Hawaiian music concerts around the world. He will be featuring tracks from his Christmas album “Christmas to me”
