A Garden Dialogue - Nature Paintings by award-winning artist Eng Siak Loy celebrates the Singapore Botanic Gardens’ 150th Anniversary. Featuring 30 paintings inspired by the greenery and iconic locations in the Gardens, this exhibition captures the special essence, character and history of the Gardens, encapsulating the fond memories of millions of visitors. Adopting an impressionist style using a mix of oil and acrylic paints, Mr Eng captured the images as someone would see if they just caught a glimpse of the scene.
Mr Eng is a well-known designer and artist. His diverse portfolio and prolific career bear testimony to a journey of discovery and reflection. His works include the currency notes of Singapore and many stamp and coin sets. Mr Eng’s excellent works and contributions to the art and design scene have seen him receiving the prestigious UNESCO NOMA Concourse prize. He was also a recipient of Asia’s Most Beautiful Stamps award while coming in 2nd in the Most Beautiful Stamp in the World award in 2003. As a fitting cap to his lifelong achievements, he won the Singapore President’s Design Award (Designer of the Year) in 2007. Mr Eng has also fronted and staged many art exhibitions – most notably the Singapore Artists’ Art Exhibition in Moscow and the 5th Festival of Asian Art in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Brunei and India.
