The Association for Women in Computing is sponsoring a workshop - A Disciplined Approach to Solving Problems. This event is open to anyone interested in learning more about this topic.

The process of designing a solution to a problem is difficult to describe. Prior experience, and a disciplined review of pertinent data and relevant alternatives, can help stimulate one's creative intuition. While uniformity and discipline are important benefits from using a computer, the role of intuition in solving problems cannot be discounted. This presentation will present a framework for solving problems that marries the rigor of mathematics with the creativity embodied in the intuitive process.

Our presenter, Henry Beitz, is an information technology professional who has been teaching and consulting for 55 years. He has taught in in-house programs for Control Data Corporation, and Burroughs Corporation and spent a couple of years as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Utah. His clients include numerous manufacturers in Michigan and medical and dental practices in the Midwest.

This event is sponsored by Stout Systems (http://stoutsystems.com/) providing expert level software and firmware development consulting and staffing services. Stout Systems is fueled by the most powerful technology available: human intelligence.

We will have drinks and snacks from 6-630p. The presentation will commence at 630 and last about an hour. After the talk, more networking and refreshments. To register, contact Ronda Bergman at programs@awc-aa.org.
