A Concert of Georgian and Russian Romances
Art Songs of Love and Longing

Take Subway D line to Ocean Parkway exit, walk 1 block to Seabreeze

The genre of Russian and Georgian romances refers to a style of art songs prominent in Russia and Georgia since the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It has roots in both folklore and the classic tradition, and is fired by passion and elegance. The term "Romance" encompasses both classical and chamber songs, generally with themes of love and longing. Our performers are masters of Georgian music now resident in New York State who have performed with the major Georgian professional companies.

This event is made possible in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs
