Looking at the history of concepts of theory in general, and the history of film theory in particular, Prof. Rodowick will argue that theory has no stable or invariable sense in the present, nor can its meanings for us now be anchored in a unique origin in the near or distant past. David Rodowick is a professor of Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard University. Rodowick is the author of numerous essays and books including, The Virtual Life of Film (Harvard University Press, 2007) and The Afterimage of Gilles Deleuze's Film Philosophy (University of Minnesota Press, 2009).
