Looking for something fun to do during the Halloween weekend? Well, as part of its traditional BOO-tiful Saturday Halloween celebration, The York Theatre, located at 150 N. York Street in Elmhurst, IL, will be hosting a morning of exciting Halloween festivities. Head to downtown Elmhurst and the York Theatre dressed in your best Halloween attire on Saturday, October 30, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., as Elmhurst City Centre presents its annual costume parade and a FREE screening of the movie Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, beginning at 10:15 a.m. Make sure to come out early to enjoy a magic show before the movie. And, after the movie enjoy Trick-or-Treating at participating stores!
Starring Natalie Portman and Dustin Hoffman, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium tells the story of the strangest, yet most fantastic toy store in the world. But, when Mr. Magorium, the 243 year-old eccentric who owns the store, hands it over to his insecure employee, a dark and gloomy change begins to take over the once remarkable Emporium.
“This free event provides a safe environment for kids to dress up in Halloween costumes, enjoy a little magic, see a free movie, and go trick-or-treating!” says Chris Johnson, vice-president of Classic Cinemas.
In addition, one "Sensory Sensitive" auditorium will be set aside to accommodate children with special needs. The sound level will be moderated to a softer volume and the side lights will remain up a bit higher than usual.
