“A master of understated portraiture with sudden violent twists.”—Time Out New York

The Studio Theatre welcomed da da kamera’s production of In on It in 2001, and The Studio 2ndStage produced MacIvor’s 2-2 Tango in 1992. MacIvor has written and directed numerous award-winning productions including See Bob Run, Wild Abandon, This Is A Play, The Soldier Dreams, You Are Here, Never Swim Alone, Marion Bridge and How It Works. With long time collaborator Daniel Brooks, he created the solo performances House, Here Lies Henry, Monster and Cul-de-sac. A Beautiful View marked the final production of da da kamera, which MacIvor ran with producing partner Sherrie Johnson from 1987 to 2007. MacIvor is also an award-winning filmmaker and an actor. Studio 2ndStage audiences will also get a sneak peak of his latest play, Confession, which he is developing for Nova Scotia’s Mulgrave Road Theatre.
A Beautiful View explores the boundaries of love, laughter and life itself. Two women (Jennifer Mendenhall and Kathleen Coons) meet in a camping store. Although neither one considers herself a lesbian, they share a romantic encounter. Over the years, as their lives become more and more intertwined, they struggle under the pressure of the labels they have put on themselves. A Beautiful View sparkles with Daniel MacIvor’s signature style: innovative, funny and boldly theatrical.
