9th Annual Sisters of Fire Awards Ceremony: IGNITING, INSPIRING, TRANSFORMING
On October 28th, Women of Color Resource Center will honor five honorees who have IGNITED change, INSPIRED passion and TRANSFORMED lives in our community.
The honorees are: Assemblywomen Karen Bass, the first African American woman Majority Floor Leader; Korean American poet and award-winning author of The Temperature of the Water Ishle Park, acclaimed vocalist and cultural historican Linda Tillery; California Latinas for Reproductive Justice, a statewide organization dedicated to the advocacy of California's Latinas reproductive health and rights; and Service Women's Action Network, a leading voice of military women resisting war and speaking for peace.
Join us at this fabulous brunch and ceremony on Sunday, October 28, 2007 at 11a.m. at Oakland's Scottish Rite Center. Tickets are sliding scale from $45-$75.
Special guest emcee will be none other than former Sister of Fire recipient Angela Y. Davis. We will also be celebrating the leadership of Linda Burnham, WCRC's Executive Director. Performances by the jazz-fusion group, Infinite Kim.
