90 Mile Portage is collaboration between the Minneapolis singer-songwriter Jamie Kallestad and the Cambridge pianist/composer Ben Cosgrove. Formed in 2011, 90 Mile Portage began as an experimental creative outlet for the two musicians and a break from their regular touring gigs (with the stomp-grass trio Saint Anyway and as a solo pianist, respectively.) Set to Cosgrove’s lush and unconventional arrangements, Kallestad’s original songs come to life, inviting deep listening with needle-point lyrical observations buoyed by an ever evolving soundscape. Since their formation, the duo has played regularly in Boston and throughout New England. In the fall of 2012, Coyote Sound Project plans to release their first full-length studio album, followed by a national tour in the spring of 2013.
