8TH ANNUAL FOCUS ON FEMALE DIRECTORS This annual shorts program celebrates the directorial work of cinema pioneers, Academy Award winners, actresses-turned-directors, industry heavyweights, music video directors, documentarians, animators and the brightest stars emerging from film schools and the international festival circuit. Films include: Jill Soloway’s “Una Hora Por Favora” (USA, 2011, 13 min.) A woman hires a day laborer for an hour and gets more than she bargained for. Brie Larson, Sarah Ramos & Jessie Ennis’ “The Arm” (USA, 2011, 9 min.) To keep up with social pressure in a technologically advanced world, Chance starts a texting relationship with Genevieve, a girl he meets at a yogurt shop. But tragedy forces Chance to realize that he was never in a relationship at all. Amanda Tasse's "The Reality Clock” (USA, 2011, 7 min.) Searching for his lost clock, a watchmaker loses himself in memory. A Student Academy Award Gold Medal Winner. Amanda Forbis & Wendy Tilby's "When the Day Breaks" (Canada, 1999, 10 min.) This acclaimed animated short, from the directors of last year’s Oscar-nominated "Wild Life,” illuminates the links that connect our urban lives while evoking the promise of a new day. With singer Martha Wainwright. Clarissa De Los Reyes' "Johnny Loves Dolores" (USA, 2011, 27 min.) A sweet, moving love story set in the Filipino immigrant community in New York City. Ondi Timoner's "How Reddit Was Born" (USA, 2012, 12 min.) Reddit has grown from a network of niche communities to the "front page of the Internet." The social news site, which received 47 million visitors last month, has become a voice to be reckoned with on the web. Users have discovered new talents and kept politics in check -- among many other important moments. How did the site get its start? Reddit founders Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian discuss how the site went from startup to global social newspaper. Julie Delpy's "Blah, Blah, Blah" (France, 1995, 12 min).
