The attack on Iraq, based on lies about WMDs that did not exist, began with "shock and awe" on March 19th, 2003. Today, 50,000 US troops remain, along with thousands of corporate contractors and war profiteers, and the dollar drain continues. Some forces were transferred to Afghanistan, at a cost of $1 million per soldier per year!
On Saturday, March 19th, 2011, please come to downtown Santa Barbara:
- 11am meet in De La Guerra Plaza
- 11:45am march down State Street
- 1pm rally at the Arlington West Memorial on the Santa Barbara Waterfront, next to Stearns Wharf, at the intersection of State Street and Cabrillo Blvd. Speakers will include Marty Blum, former Mayor of Santa Barbara, and David Krieger of the Nuclear Age Peace foundation.
It's time to bring our military home, to end the occupation of Iraq; stop the ongoing attacks in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen; and reclaim our country and tax dollars from the Republican-Democrat-Military-Industrial Complex. We call on political conservatives, progressives, and independents; religious faithful and non-believers to unite for a peaceful future and to rebuild America.
