(Berkeley, CA) August 11-16, 2008- Habitot Children’s Museum’s Camping Out Week offers children ages 0 – 6 an artistic, adventurous excursion “in the woods”! These fun and safe indoor activities are a great introduction to camping for toddlers, and a way for families to 'practice' for the great outdoors! Little campers will enjoy building a tee-pee using grass, leaves, and sticks; painting and decorating rocks for a rock garden; and creating a giant tree sculpture with clay. Families can make paper fish out of tissue paper, glitter and shiny materials, and use poles to go fishing in Lake Habitot. For those who love creepy-crawlies, there’s the opportunity to design giant spiders and caterpillars, or admire a terrarium of live crickets. After designing their very own bird feeders from milk cartons, cardboard, and colorful materials, children will end an exciting day by listening to stories about the outdoors around a “campfire.” For more information about Habitot's events, please visit http://www.habitot.org
