7th Annual OBSS Skate Jam & Wall Ride Contest at OB Street Fair June 25, 2011

If any town knows how to celebrate summer, it’s Ocean Beach! Each year, thousands flock to Newport Avenue on the Saturday following Summer Solstice for live music, entertainment, unique vendors, talented artists, skateboard competitions, thrilling rides, refreshing beer gardens, and so much more for the one and only: OB Street Fair and Chili Cook-Off! This one-of-a-kind festival kicks off on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm, located on the 4800-5000 blocks of Newport Avenue and surrounding streets in Ocean Beach.



Without a doubt, one of the festival’s largest attractions is the Ocean Beach Surf & Skate (OBSS) Annual Skate Jam held in the parking lot right next to the shop at 4976 Newport Avenue. This year marks the 7th Annual OBSS Skate Jam which will feature a street course Skate Jam, an all new Wall Ride Contest with cash prizes and live skate demos from the industry’s hottest skateboarders and teams. In addition to the skateboarding, the OBSS parking lot will feature a local DJ spinning killer beats as well tons of vendor booths with games and free swag!



The 7th Annual OBSS Skate Jam and Wall Ride Contest is open to all ages and abilities. Contestants can pre-register for the contest or enter the day-of on June 25th. The Skate Jam entry fee is $5 and the Wall Ride Contest is $10 on the day-of the event, but to help you ride, OBSS is offering a pre-registration discount! Sign-up by Friday, June 24, 2011, and you can enter BOTH contests for only $10 -OR- make any skateboard purchase of $30 or more and get your Skate Jam and Wall Ride Contest entries for FREE! Entry forms are available at Ocean Beach Surf & Skate, which is located in the heart of OB at 4976 Newport Avenue. Helmets are required for all participants under 18 years old.
