We would like to cordially invite you to attend the 6th EMCA Workshop 2011, hosted by the Hungarian Pest Control Association, MaKOSZ in Budapest 12 – 15th September 2011.
The Workshop will take place at the Danubius Thermal Hotel Helia, located directly on the banks of the Danube River in Budapest. The conference facilities and accommodation are conveniently located under one roof. This is particularly advantageous for participants, as it offers the opportunity to socialize and hold discussions with other attendees beyond the time schedule of the conference. The hotel also offers an extensive range of relaxing and therapeutic spa and wellness facilities. The rooms are reasonably priced, especially if shared by two persons. We have tried to keep registration fees to a minimum, and offer a special discount for students as well as accompanying persons.
The forthcoming Workshop will emphasize the challenges of mosquito control in the changing global environment to which Europe has become particularly exposed. This topic will be the focus of discussion for the first two days of the Workshop (Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th September). The third day of the Workshop (Thursday 15th September) will cover other important topics such as blackflies and Culicoides. There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss topics in small group meetings outside the official timetable. The scientific programme and infrastructure of the Workshop are currently in the final stages of planning. I think you will find the programme gives a stimulating and thorough overview of the current issues facing the control and surveillance of mosquitoes in Europe.
Our traditional EMCA social function is planned for Wednesday, September 14, starting in the late afternoon, and will combine sightseeing with a dinner of local specialties.
In order to facilitate the smooth planning and organization of the Workshop, the Local Committee and the EMCA Board would like to ask all participants to strictly adhere to the deadlines set for registration as well as for the submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentations.
Up-to-date and final information regarding the scientific programme will be made available in the next few weeks.
