6th annual West Coast BBQ Championship fires up Fairfield, CA.
Master Chefs and talented cooks from all over the Western United States will compete for several California State Championship titles Saturday & Sunday August 15-16, 2009 at West Texas and Jefferson Streets as part of the 18th annual Fairfield Tomato Festival. This is a cooking contest like no other - While many people have seen cooking contests on national TV, few have had the opportunity to see and them up close and in person - much less become a participant as they could be at the West Coast BBQ Championships!
This family-oriented outdoor festival offers free admission. There are numerous other activities and entertainment options surrounding the BBQ contest, including: concerts, craft vendors, kid’s zone, as well as a bounty of Tomato flavored options. BBQ and other edible delights will be available for purchase from vendors. Samples of locally grown heirloom tomatoes, along with many other tasty treats will be available courtesy of the Fairfield Downtown Association in Tomato Alley.
Downtown Fairfield will be filled with the overwhelming aroma as the BBQ teams cook through the night and into the early hours of Saturday morning. The teams typically have playful names, but are serious about tasty and tender slow smoked barbeque, and the sport of competition cooking.
Either way as a competitor or spectator you’ll have great time at the West Coast BBQ Championships and Fairfield Tomato Festival. For more information and entry forms please see www.westcoastbbqchampionships.com or www.fairfielddowntown.com
