6th Annual Sake Day - A Toast to Recovery October 1, 2011

What do you get when you combine a San Francisco "original" and tremendously worthy cause like helping the Japan earthquake and tsunmai recovery effort? You get the 6th Annual Sake Day Celebration entitled "A Toast To Recovery." What is Sake Day? It's the Oktoberfest of the sake world as October 1st is "Nihonshu no hi" or the day of sake in Japan.

San Francisco's very own True Sake "America's first sake store" started this tradition 6 years ago to celebrate and educate a new wave of sake enthusiasts by hosting a sake-centric party to enjoy this often misunderstood ancient beverage. And what better way to drink sake than to know that 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the recovery efforts of the horrific earthquake that occurred almost 7 months ago.

This year's Sake Day features a record number of sake brewers, importers, and distributors pouring a record number of premium sakes in the heart of Japan Town in San Francisco. Add to that the culinary wizardry of Sho Kamio, the Executive Chef of Yoshi's - who will be creating cuisine influenced by the northern Japan "Tohuku" region, and a festive Okinawa live band and this Sake Day is not to be missed by any person who knows about sake or is looking to learn more. Four dedicated sake tasting "Challenge" stations will enlighten any and all.
