Main Street
Louisburg, North Carolina 27549

Travel just 30 minutes up 401 North from Raleigh and you can be in
farm country. The township of Louisburg, located in Franklin County, is a
thriving farming community with bucolic scenes and a historical downtown.
Step into the past where long forgotten family farms are seeing a return of
baby-boomers where they once left their hearts. The weekend of May 16-17th,
2009 offers you the opportunity to discover the day-to-day life on a working
farm. If you’ve had questions about how produce is grown or you’d like to
educate the kids; this is an inexpensive weekend adventure offering farm tours, local arts & crafts, a children’s Fishing Rodeo on Saturday morning, Dinner on the Green Saturday evening, and a Farm to River 5k Run on Sunday to benefit the Future Farmers of America, small farmers and sustainability projects in Franklin County.

Follow the signs to historic Person Place on Main Street, downtown
Louisburg, and visit our Hospitality Tent. Starting at 10 a.m., you can
purchase a farm tour button for $5/adult, children under 12 free. While there,
make sure to enjoy the local heritage arts and crafts. Pick up the
brochure/map with descriptions of the 8 farms on tour. Any tours you miss on
Saturday, you can visit on Sunday 11-5 p.m. (Buttons and brochures for the tour will be available at each of the farms.)
Tickets for the Saturday evening “Dinner on the Green” featuring
local foods prepared by some of the area’s top chefs are available in advance for $10/adult and $12 day of the event. Tickets include dinner and entertainment by the Doc Branch Band. This local family of bluegrass musicians play regularly at the Ridgeway Opera House, the Pittsboro General Store, and we’re honored to have them perform for us on May 16th.

The menu from the previous year included grilled hormone free beef, goat
cheese and strawberry salad with area vegetables, homemade breads and just-
picked handdipped chocolate strawberries. With the availability of fresh produce for sale (eggs, vegetables and meats), make sure to bring a cooler. Doc Branch Band CD’s are available for $10. For more information on the band, please visit
