5th Annual Wines for the Holidays

The Fifth Annual “Wines for the Holidays” wine tasting takes place on Friday, November 18 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Standley Lake Library, 8485 Kipling Street in Arvada. Colorado’s fine wines will again be featured with proceeds going to the Arvada Community Food Bank. Tickets are $30 and must be reserved in advance by calling the Arvada Festivals Commission at 720-898-7400.

Last year, over 300 hours were volunteered by generous AFC, library staff, and community members to plan and produce the event resulting in an attendance of 275 guests and raising $11,500 for the Arvada Community Food Bank. Lynne Heinikamp, 2010 event co-coordinator, said, "With all the room to mingle, so many attendees commented that they loved having this event at the Library. The turnout was exceptional and the wine companies were delighted. We anticipate attendance to reach 325 this year."

Colorado wines win many local and international awards.

Over 100 varieties of Colorado-produced wines have been donated by five of the top Front Range wineries including Balistreri Winery, Spero Winery, Turquoise Mesa, Clear CreekCellars, and Verso Cellars. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy tastings and learn about rich Merlots and vibrant Cabernets, refreshing Rieslings, floral Viogniers and expressive Chardonnays from the winery owners and staff. A sampling of appetizers and desserts, generously donated by local restaurants and volunteers, will complement the wines and be accompanied by live musical entertainment.



An affordable silent auction will offer over 150 items generously donated by local and regional businesses and individuals. Amongst the offerings are hotel stays, spa packages, golf packages, sports tickets and memorabilia, many restaurant certificates, wine baskets, art and home decor, jewelry and fashion items and an array of services.
