Walk to benefit Local Shelters in the Valley
What: Participate in 5 KM non-competitive Charity Walk to raise funds for needy local shelters.
Other Activities: 1K Walk for Children, Families and seniors; Yoga, Games and Fun Activities for Children; DJ Music, Snacks/Food and Beverages


When: Sunday, November 9, 2008

9:00 AM Registration

10:00 AM Opening Ceremonies and Walk

9:00 AM -1:00 PM Charity and Non-Profit Organization Displays



Where: Fiesta Ramada, Kiwanis Park, Tempe, Arizona

5500 South Mill Ave, Tempe, Arizona: (Mill Ave and All America Way - south of Baseline).



Why: The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of and funds for local shelters and non-profit organizations in the Valley that serve the less fortunate members of our greater Phoenix area. Many of our local shelters are in great need of financial support especially in these tough economic times. The Charity Walk provides an opportunity for members of the Indo American community to give back to the community at large in which we live and work.



Primary Beneficiaries:



1.. CASS - Central Arizona Shelter Services -striving to empower men, women and children with diverse needs to end their homelessness by providing shelters and supportive services. Serving 6,000 men, women and childern annually.
2.. Helping Hands Housing Services - provides affordable housing to needy families and single mothers
3.. Arizona South Asians for Safe Families (ASAFSF) - providing support services to victims of Domestic Violence in the South Asian community
