5th-8th Grade Writing Workshops July 19, 2010

Classes meet for 2 weeks July 19 - 29th, Mon-Thurs; 5th/6th Graders 9:30-12:30pm; 7th-8th Graders 1-4pm

Students will be introduced to different genres of writing (persuasive, narrative, expository & descriptive) through hands on activities and structured writing exercises. Students will work towards writing a longer piece in the genre of their choice, as well as have the opportunity to explore the world of blogging. Final student pieces will be published in a class booklet and shared during a writer's celebration which will occur on the last day of class.

**This workshop will help prepare students for the California State Writing Exams, administered to students in 4th & 7th grade.**
