Akoma, featuring Yaw Amponsah
Funke Tabla and Seattle International Nights are proud to present French/African DJ

Opening for Frederic will be Akoma, featuring: Ghanaian master drummer Yaw Amponsah. Akoma will do a set of live West African Palmwine style beats. Frederic Galliano hails from Valence in the South East of France. For the past decade he has been rocking crowds in Paris and around the world. His specialty is combining the sounds of West Africa with fresh electronic beats. He is the pre-eminent producer working in this domain, and has actively encouraged others to get on the African tip; founding his own label, Frikyiwa, in 1998 to get out new music in this vein.

His most recent albums "Sacré Live," and "Frederic Galliano presents The African Divas" are a mix of Deep House grooves, with the music of singers and instrumentalists from Mali, Guinea, and Senegal. These albums stand out as the one of most exciting and insightful mixes of West African music with club beats. As one reviewer noted, recommending one of the
albums, "DJ goes back to the motherland--doesn't make fool of himself!" Come and see what all the excitement is about as Galliano does a solo set at Tost on May 10th. Show starts at 9pm, cover is $10.
