In May and June of each year Art Works proudly partners with the art programs at Henrico High School, Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School and Lee Davis High School. The work is the result of four years of study and ranges from paintings, sculptures, and installations to fashion.
Henrico High School and Lee Davis High School open their exhibits on May 27th at 7pm-10 along with the other FOURTH FRIDAY art shows. Then on June 11th Maggie L. Walker School takes over the main gallery replacing the Henrico High exhibit. This reception starts at 6 pm. Please join us on May 27th 7-10 p.m. for the FOURTH FRIDAY art show and reception and again on June 11th for the Maggie Walker School art show and reception. The events are free and open to the public.

HENRICO CENTER FOR THE ARTS SENIOR SHOW
Mary Scurlock guides her students through the many facets of art and the culmination of this work is the senior show at Art Works.
The opening reception is May 27 from 7-10 p.m. The exhibit continues through June 7th. The exhibit will be in the Jane Sandelin Gallery.
MAGGIE L. WALKER GOVENOR’S SCHOOL SENIOR ART EXHIBITION
Jeff Hall provides the inspiration and guidance for the visual art students at Maggie L. Walker where he supports a broad range of experiences in both two and three dimensions, and with a wide variety of media. The students present their work on June 11h with a reception at 7:00 p.m. The show continues through June 19th. The exhibit will be in the Jane Sandelin Gallery.
LEE DAVIS HIGH SCHOOL ART EXHIBIT
This is the first year that Hanover County has participated in the student exhibitions at Art Works. Madison Fairburn’s students from Lee Davis High School will be exhibiting in the Skylight Gallery May 27th – June 11th.
FINGERS OF LIGHT
Dorothy Ellis
As a Virginia teacher, Dorothy Ellis has helped thousands of people solve numerous creative problems. Upon retirement she now concentrates in printmaking, putting color into etchings with various inking techniques. Dorothy is active in many galleries in Richmond and brings a fresh, creative art form to this new exhibit at Art Works, Center Gallery East.
THINGS THAT MATTER
Blanton Seward
Blanton Seward intrigues us with the title of his new show. His new body of work in the Centre Gallery, West addresses the question “What really matters?” .
MAY 2011 ALL MEDIA ART SHOW
This exhibit is a focal point of all Art Works’ openings. It is a juried show with cash prizes and is open to all artists and all mediums. Call for Entries is on May 20th and 21st, 2011 at Art Works. Mike Dulin is the juror.
