Austin, TX, April 29, 2009: Calling all chocolate lovers and connoisseurs: The 4th annual Austin Chocolate Festival will be held September 18th and 19th 2009 at the Monarch Event Center in Austin, TX. The main goals of the festival are to promote and support Susan G. Komen for the Cure, local businesses, and the pursuit of gourmet foods. Over $5,000 each year has been already been raised to benefit the noble efforts of the Susan G. Komen organization. Fat Turkey Chocolate owners, Steven and Jennifer Flood, hope to double that monetary goal for the 2009 festival so that they may truly give back to the community and those in need.
Participants in this event will include a wide variety of local chocolatiers and chocolate artisans including but not limited to: restaurants, bakeries, chocolatiers, patisseries, authors, and catering companies. Visitors to the festival will be able to taste the wares of the vendors and take home samples. Should a sample not be enough to tide over a visitor, vendors will also have their products available for purchase at the event. During the festival there will be a competition for the vendors consisting of several categories such as Best Truffle, or Best Chocolate Sculpture. The competition results will be based upon votes made by the public and a panel of professionals.
