440 Gallery is pleased to announce its Fourth Annual Small Works Show. This unique exhibit features a diverse group of artists, many from the local Brooklyn community. The works on display are no larger than 12” x 12” in any direction and in a wide range of media. This years’ juror is David Humphrey, a well known and respected New York artist and curator, represented by Sikkema Jenkins & Co. in New York City. He is the winner of numerous prestigious fellowships, and is in many private, as well as, public collections. Humphrey is a well-published writer and has written reviews and many articles for Art in America, Art Issues and other publications. An anthology of his art writing called Blind Handshake, published by Periscope Publishing will be released next year. His radio show Sound and Vision can be heard on WPS1.org.
There will be three awards granted: The “Curators’ Choice, “The 440 Award”, determined by a vote of the Gallery membership, and the “Peoples Choice” award, chosen by the artists and guests who attend the opening reception.
This year, the Small Works Show drew more entries than ever before. The quality of the works presented is particularly strong this year, making a difficult decision for Mr. Humphrey. This event draws an unusually large crowd of artists and collectors, reflecting a full spectrum of the Brooklyn art scene. Don’t miss this unique community show.
