The Denver Gem & Mineral Show and concurrent Colorado Fossil Expo offer a spectacular view of the earth sciences and lapidary arts, with 300 vendors and exhibits from around the world. Crafters and scientists provide demonstrations of gem cutting, jewelry making, and fossil preparation. The theme for 2008 is “Minerals of Colorado.” Displays showcase some of the world’s finest museum collections as well of those of local geologists, clubs, and rockhounds. Speakers will give talks on topics relating to mining and mineral collecting. There will be free gold panning and other activities for children, plus free gem and mineral identification. Mr. Bones, a walking dinosaur, will delight children of all ages. Adults $6/day, Seniors (over 65) & Juniors (13-17) $4/day, Children under 13 free with adult.
