36th Annual Festival of the Kite & Yo-Yo Competition March 14, 2010

The 36th Annual Festival of the Kite presented by the Redondo Pier Association and Sunshine Kite Company is L.A.’s best and longest-running kite festival. This all-ages free event is open to the public and prizes will be awarded for the best hand-made kite, best ground display, highest flying kite, and the youngest and youngest at heart kite flyers. The 7th Annual Yo-Yo Jam competition sponsored by Yo-Yo Factory will kick-off the festival on the pier and the winner of the 4rd Annual Craig's Hot Dog on a Stick Eating Contest takes home a $200 cash prize. Other highlights include a martial arts demonstration and live music throughout the day. The festival will culminate with a mass kite ascension flight on the South beach adjacent to the pier.
