Due largely in part to their non-stop touring in the early '90s, 311 built a big fan base for its rock-rap-reggae hybrid style of music. In the crowded New York reggae scene, Hasidic reggae musician Matisyahu literally stands out like no other. With his long beard and black hat, this young lyricist, MC and beatboxer is a singular performer whose power, poetry and skills combine the sounds of Bob Marley and Shlomo Carlebach while remaining wholly original.
