The highlight of Benita Bike’s DanceArt’s 30th Anniversary Season is its concert at the new ARCpasadena on April 30, 8:00 pm and May 1 at 3:00 pm. ARCpasadena is fast becoming one of L.A.’s dance hot spots. The DanceArt Company will be joined onstage by Guest Choreographer Hilary Thomas of Pasadena’s Lineage Dance. ARCpasadena is located at 1158 E. Colorado Blvd .in Pasadena. Tickets are $30, $27, and $15 and can be purchased at www.DanceArt.org/tickets.
The DanceArt Company has been a fixture on the contemporary dance scene in greater Los Angeles for 20 years. Originally from Boston, DanceArt performed across New England and in Europe. Benita Bike’s DanceArt features choreography by Benita Bike and is known for its musicality, elegance, and expressivity.
Benita Bike will premiere on this program "Southern Memories," a poignant and energetic trio taking its cue from traditional tunes of the Southern United States. The DanceArt Company will also present:
• "Entrelazadas" gently tracing the relationship of three women;
• "Aliens," a fantasy about a young creature learning about life;
• "Dances in White," a dance of intimate and dramatic solos;
• "Eternal Encounter," a fable of good and evil
Guest choreographer Hilary Thomas will present a duet "Love Will Come Back to Me," an excerpt from "Healing Blue," to music by acclaimed composer and performer Erica Gimpel. "Love Will Come Back to Me" is a tribute to Denise Lambeth-Manny.
